PHYSICAL AND CHEMICAL  PROPERTIES             LACRILON is a natural BIOPOLYMER, (Molecular weight 35000 - 45000 daltons; dynamic viscosity 20cps), ultrapurified by original procedure which assures its stability (can be kept for 2 years at room temperature) and together with the suitable balance of its SULPHATES, it maximizes its BIOTHERAPEUTIC ACTION  BIOTHERAPEUTIC PROPERTIES                      The Sulphated Glycosaminoglycans (Condroitin A and C Sulphate and Keratan Sulphate) are the main extracellular components of the joint cartilage (MATRIX). On account of its high anionic load (-) and molecular weight, they are highly hydrophylic (elasticity), interacting with cations (+) of different types (glycoproteins, enzymes, collagen) which give them a wide biological activity.

BIOAVAILABILITY                LACRILON, is slowly released from the moment it is injected, having positive trofism towards the fibrocartilagenous tissue, it lies selectively on the joint cartilage, where significant concentration (2-7ug. of tissue) will be spotted from the first day to 4-8 days after injection, contributing to the Matrix glycosaminoglycan pool and exerting its pharmacalogical action (cartilage protection and cartilage repair)

CARTILAGE REPAIRING  BIOSYNTHETIC STIMULATION (More evident on the altered cartilage) LACRILON acts on the cartilage macromolecular organization. It induces the condrocite to the matrix formation. It favours collagenogenesis, mainly, type II fibre (larger) (It also acts on tendons). It encourages the formation of Proteoglycan compounds with higher molecular weight (more efficient)

HISTOLOGICAL VIEW OF THE EQUINE ARTICULAR CARTILAGE TINTION 0 SAFRANINE (X 250)

1)Equine osteoarthritis cartilage, not treated, Erosion cellular "nets" and tintion loss can be observed.

2)Osteoarthiritic cartilage, after treatment with Sulphated Glycosaminoglycans, Evident recovery of the structure can be abserved, as well as tintion preservation with O - SAFRAMINE

CARTILAGE PROTECTION  OSTEOGENESIS
LACRILON reduces the osteolitic process, it increases calcium total pool, its enteral absortion and bone deposits.
LYTIC ENZYME BLOCKADE OF THE JOINT cartilage (Collagenases - ellastases - Protoglycanases - Metaloproteases- etc.).
ANTIOXIDANT: It prevents lipid peroxidation, stabilizing the cellular membranes.
ANTI-INFLAMMATORY: It blocks autocoides (cellular mediators of inflammatory response.
